At Terramonga Farm, our pasture-raised chicken program is built on a foundation of care, nutrition, and respect for the natural rhythms of life. For the first four weeks, our chicks are raised in a temperature-controlled brooding house where their feed and water are closely monitored to support healthy development. The first two weeks of a chick’s life are especially critical — proper nutrition during this time sets the stage for strong immune systems and vigorous growth. After brooding, the chickens spend the next four weeks in mobile “Chicken Ranger” coops that are moved daily across our pastures. These coops not only give the birds fresh ground to forage but also protect them from local predators like coyotes, foxes, bears, possums, raccoons, and groundhogs. Their diet consists of a carefully formulated, locally ground non-GMO feed designed to meet their needs at every stage of life, along with ample grit to support digestion and prevent waste. Beyond their feed, our chickens enjoy constant access to fresh pasture, where they supplement their diet with wild forage and insects — a natural, varied diet that results in a bird with unmatched depth of flavor. This thoughtful, hands-on approach creates exceptionally healthy and content chickens, and the result is a truly phenomenal product for the dinner table — flavorful, nourishing, and raised with integrity.
